Spin-off logo

This website is dedicated to ETH Spin-offs, which are companies founded by current or recent ETH Zurich members that build on research results from ETH Zurich. All processes described here apply exclusively to spin-offs. The incorporation and, if applicable, licensing to an ETH Spin-off must follow a defined process to ensure compliance and to access benefits such as the ETH Spin-off label and participation in ETH’s entrepreneurship ecosystem. A note on ETH Start-ups

ETH Start-ups — scalable businesses created by ETH members or alumni that do not use ETH research results — are not the focus of this website. Start-ups may apply for recognition and support through ETH Entrepreneurship. The procedures outlined here do not apply to them.

ETH Zürich's mission

ETH Zurich promotes the transfer of knowledge to society by supporting its members in entrepreneurial activities. It provides a structured framework for those who wish to transform research results into a company. Founders benefit from clear procedures, access to ETH resources under defined conditions, and licensing terms designed to be founder-friendly. ETH Zurich participates in the founding of the company and typically acquires a small equity stake as part of this process. Through its entrepreneurship ecosystem, ETH offers infrastructure, mentoring, and valuable connections to help new ventures succeed.
